Enough:

A Memoir on Healing Anger, Trauma, and Learning Self Expression

When Lisa Futscher was five years old, she testified before a judge that her father had sexually abused her.  As a result of her testimony, she was safe from never having to see her narcissistic and abusive father again.  But she also learned that speaking up for herself often had unintended consequences.  So when her mother began struggling with her own mental health – through addictions to work, gambling, and hoarding – Lisa was afraid to speak up about it.

Like her mother, who blamed the family for her situation, Lisa learned that it was easier to turn to anger, destroying relationships with family members and friends in the process.  When she finally understood that her mother wouldn’t change, Lisa realized that her only option was to escape.  But even after she got away from her mother’s hoarding, all the anger, insecurity, and fear of self-expression she had relied on all those years kept her trapped in old patterns.

In a journey through memory, writing, and parenting that at times alternates between the psychological, spiritual, and mundane, Lisa seeks to heal her grief and break the cycle of trauma.
